Bangalore, June 8: Starting from June 8 to 22, no communication will be there in between ISRO and Mangalyaan. Reason for this blackout is the Sun will come between Earth and Mars.

First Indian space craft to Mars, the Mangalyaan is to go for a communication blackout starting from this month 8th June onwards.  For a complete fortnight i.e. till 22nd June, there will be no communication between the scientists In ISRO and Mars Orbiter. The reason behind this is the presence of Sun in-between Earth and Mars.

This is for the first time such communication break is going to be happens but ISRO is quite comfortable to handle this situation. Addressing to media, Dr Kiran Kumar (ISRO chairman) said that all simulations regarding this blackout are done. ISRO is quite comfortable and zero chances are there for any type of unwanted situation.

During this 15 day time period, Mangalyaan will be in a fully autonomous mode and will be unable to communicate with the base station. Complete information will be made publicized once after analysis is done. ISRO is undergoing through a information collection process for the time.

Dr Kiran Kumar also said, “Partial operations have already stopped. The satellite is in good health, all the five payloads are functioning well and we do not anticipate any major problem.” He also elaborates the time duration that Mangalyaan could continue to orbit around Mars will be known after June 22. Performance of Mars Orbiter is absolutely satisfying till now. It send around 200 different images of Mars along with some other vital information regarding atmospheric and whether condition. Though not all, but some of them are published in different media platform by ISRO.
