Lord Ganesh is also familiar as an elephant-headed god, as he resembles like an elephant. Lord Ganesh is the first son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. The second son named as Kumara Swamy.  According to mythology, one day, Goddess Parvathi has created Lord Vinayaka with the turmeric powder and had given life to him. The goddess then kept the Lord Vinayaka next to the place where she was bathing. After few minutes Lord Shiva (Parvathi’s Husband) come over there and is surprised to see a boy stopping him from entering inside. Later they both indulge into a bitter fight, and Lord Shiva opens his Third eye and bhasmas Ganesha. Parvathi then explains him all the story happened and asks him to get back her son by hook or by crook. With no option left, all the gods will fix an elephant head to Lord Ganesh.
