Mahindra Defence Naval System Ltd tied up with UK firm named Ultra Electronics to build-up under water equipment for Indian Navy warfare under central Govt Make in India initiative.

To give a support to central Govt Make in India initiative, several companies have expressed attention in developing defence equipment’s. In a same way Mahindra Defence Naval Systems Ltd has entered into a deal to tie up with UK’s Ultra Electronics for under water equipment for India Navy.

Chairman of Mahindra Defence Naval System, S.P Shukla has announced that, a unit of $16.9 billion Mahindra Group will offer domestic and global opportunities in naval defence space in the coming months. As a part of this the group is exploring several such tie-ups.

Mahindra and UK’s Ultra electronics joined together to build torpedo defence, integrated anti-submarine warfare defence and equipment to counter mines, anti-submarine vessels, submarine safety equipment, son buys and underwater ranges.

Shukla said that “Mahindra Defence Naval would be neutral in building naval warfare capabilities despite who is building the ships or submarines”.

As per information, India Navy imports most of its underwater fighting equipment, so Mahindra hopes to provide these equipment’s with the support of UK firm. The group is also expected to address radios for tactical communication systems and additional defence electronics for all the three wings of the armed forces.

The group is expected to build naval capabilities with the support of select overseas companies and is expected to bid for all major naval warfare products.
