Hyderabad: 18-months old girl child was killed after getting vaccinated with over dose or expired vaccine at an Anganwadi center in Nagole, Hyderabad.
A girl child of 18-months old was died after getting vaccinated at an Anganwadi centre allegedly due to over dosage of expired immunization vaccine in Nagole on Sunday.
According to information a child of 18 months named Paranavi was caught fever and died after few hours after getting vaccinated on Sunday morning. Pranavi was taken to Anganwadi Center at Mathuguda in Nagole by her mother Dhana Lakshmi for vaccination of DPT, Measles and Polio vaccine at around 12:30 pm Saturday afternoon.
A nurse at the center gave her a DTP, measles injection and also gave two drops of polio vaccine. Later few hours the girl child was developed with high fever and subsequently child’s mother Dhana Lakshmi gave a Paracetamol tablet to child which was given by the nurse during immunization.
But the child was suffering with high fever by 4 am on Sunday, then the parents immediately took the child to a private children’s hospital at LB Nagar, the doctors declared that the child was died.
Child’s father M Sai Kumar filed a complaint at LB Nagar police station that the death occurred due to negligence of the staff. Post-mortem was conducted at Osmania General Hospital and viscera samples were sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to discover the cause of death. Police has registered a case under IPC Section 304-Aand started an investigation.
