Hyderabad: Model RTE rules in Telangana are going to be implemented under the Joint Action Committee event that was organised for Political parties, NGOs and activists at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, Hyderabad.
The Joint Action Committee organized a solidarity event for Political parties, NGOs and activists at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, Hyderabad to implement the model RTE rules in Telangana State. The committee demanded TS Government to immediately implement provisions of 25 percentage free admissions to poor students in all private schools across the state.
The meeting was held in the presence of Tammineni Veerabadhrama, CPI (M) Telangana unit secretary, representatives from Lok Satta Party and BJP Mazdoor Morcha, APSA, COVA,Dalit Bahujan Shramik Union, Divya Disha, MV foundation, RTE forum for Telangana state and others.
Representatives of various political parties who attended meeting expressed their support to demand .The committee stated that they would meet TS government chief minister, education minister and other officials to submit a memorandum on the issue.
As per Sec 12 (1) (c) of RTE Act 2009, private schools all over the state should provide free admission for poor students, at least 25 percent of their strength. The implementation of act in Telangana state is ZERO. So, committee urged government of Telangana to bring about all required and suitable amendments in rules and notify them by or before Mid May 2015.
According to committee statement, the provisions of act are fully implemented from new academic year to commence from June 2015.
