India: Cyber Crime Sleuths of the Central Crime Station (CCS) have arrested three persons for uploading pirated Telugu latest movies “Rudhramadevi”, “Baahubali” and “Bale bale Magadivoi” on their websites.
Rudhramadevi director, Gunasekhar met Hyderabad police on Sunday and gave a complaint regarding piracy of his film. CCS police received a complaint from director cum producer Guna and caught three persons in those two B.Tech students were arrested on Sunday.
The director of Rudhramadevi said that, the pirated copy of Rudhramadevi was first uploaded on website “Movierulz.to” on release day itself and within few hours it spread to various sites. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under the IT Act, 2008, and the Copyright Act, 1957.
After the investigation, police arrested two B.Tech students Prashant Chaitankar, who studying B.Tech final year from Dundigal and his friend Pavan Kamble. They said that, they have been maintaining 12 websites, where they post the links of prated movies from www.movierulz.to and get some money through pop-up ads.
As per reports, up to now they had posted 1,200 links of pirated movies including Rudhramadevi too on their websites. The additional CP said the host server of ‘Movierulz.to’ was in Sri Lanka and the owners of the website, who were believed to be in India, use locals here to video record the movie from a cinema hall on the release day and upload it on the website. As the website is being hosted from a foreign country, it becomes difficult for cops to arrest the site owners.
