40 Percent Drinking Water Samples in Hyderabad Tested with Bacteria

Hyderabad: Are you drinking safe water in Hyderabad? See what Osmania University’s Research Wing is saying. 40% of entire supply water is bacteria infected. In 45 million gallons of water from Krishna Phase 3 Stage-1 project, 50 are tested in which 20 found positive for various bacteria counting to around 40% in total.

Every day city is receiving 45 million gallons of water from the new Krishna Phase 3 Stage-1 project, but still many of colonies are receiving muddy water and they are forcefully using purifiers to purify mud-covered water.

Recently Osmania University’s research wing researched in six laboratories on city water supply system and found that out of 50 samples tested, 20 are positive with bacterial infection. Out of these 50 samples from different localities 20 samples are counting for 40%. The contamination is maximum in areas with low SEC i.e. 52 percent, followed by 40 percent in intermediate SEC for 10 percent in areas with high SEC.

Padmanaban Reddy, secretary for the Good governance, had filed a PIL in the high court against state government for not taking an action on water board. He said that, distributing polluting water is posing a major problem in many areas.

Mr. Rameshwar Rao directions and operations of Water Board assured and said that, “Muddy water of Krishna phase 3 stage is due to new pipelines which are installed newly for supplying water to all areas across city and it is a temporary problem, soon citizens will receive quality water”.
