French automaker Renault has officially confirmed that it will produce the Renault Kwid in Brazil. This version of Kwid was specially adapted by Renault Technology Americas, which is one of the seven Renault strategic engineering centers across the world. It will be assembled in Brazil by Ayrton Senna industrial complex in Sao Jose dos Pinhais (state of Parana).

It will be the replacement for the Clio II (still produced in Argentina and sold in Brazil) as the new entry-level car from the French automaker. Not that we needed any official confirmation after this.

The new Renault Kwid has also benefited from the expertise of Renault Design-Latin America (RDLA), one of the five Renault strategic design centers, established in Sao Paulo,” the company said. Both of the organizations worked on the interior and exterior design of the car, it added.

The hatchback has been submitted to Global NCAP tests and results will be released on May 17. There is a good expectation about them. The car is produced over the CMF-A platform, which is said to have a huge concern about safety. We’ll see about that.

The Ayrton Senna Complex opened in 1998, one year after the founding of Renault do Brasil, the French groups Brazilian subsidiary. Renault launched Kwid last year in India and has received over 1 lakh bookings so far.
