Virender too plays the straight drive, whip off the hips and backfoot punch. He is also a capable right arm off-spin bowler and also agile slip fielder. Sehwag is a former opening batsman and also played the role of Vice-Captain of the India Squad under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid in the year 2005.
A consistent batsman, famous for his spectacular centuries Sehwag has delivered for his country in many matches. However, he had down season as well on even being dropped from the ODI squad in January 2007. - The second fastest century in ODI, scoring 100 runs in 69 balls against New Zealand in 2001.
- Virender Sehwag has crossed 200runs in ODI and broken the record of Sachin Tendulkar.
