Practising yoga for a long time will bring changes in the structure of your brain by improving the ability to protect it against cognitive decline parallely improving the memory power.
Yoga is a low impact exercise when compare to the one which is practiced in gym. Reportedly to the study of some researchers, yoga improves the cognitive functions of brains and help to minimise memory problems.
When the body starts moving in new way the brain also starts changing itself which involves the decrease in stress, improvement of cognitive functions and improve emotions.
Cognitive functioning is related to the mental processes of perception, memory, judgment, and reasoning.
“In the same way as muscles, the brain develops through training,” said one of the researchers, Elisa Kozasa of Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
By conducting a research, the team choose different people who are practicing yoga for minimum 8 years. They are called “yoginis”. Now comparing them with the people who don’t practise yoga.
People of age 60 were chosen and conducted magnetic resonance test to observe their brain activity. They found that the yoginis, people who practise yoga on daily basis have thickness in the left prefrontal cortex of brain.
Physical yogic activity and meditation can improve the aspects of both body and brain. Thinking ability, good memory, improves mood and release in stress.
