Parched Movie Review
Parched is a story that spins around four women. Directed by Leena Yadav, the subject was good and though provoking. The movie takes you into a disturbing mood, and she showed how people are treating women as a sex object. Coming to the story plot, Rani (Tannishtha) is a widow who lost her drunken husband. Lajjo (Radhika Apte) will be seen as a childless woman, and Bijji (Surveen) is a sex worker in North Western Region in India. All are victims of Ancient traditions like Child Marriages, Physical Abuse, and Alcoholic husbands.

The director showed the characters and their difficulties very well. The movie gave you a social message to all. It is a heart touching script that everyone wants to see. Coming to the movie, it is bold and thought to provoke. Leena Yadav made a good attempt with the innovative script by showing the problems of women in rural India.
Practically there is nothing new in movie’s presentation. Yadav connects the three women characters with a strong friendship. All characters played well. Tannishtha has done a good job with her role as Rani. She delivered a terrific performance in few scenes like dealing with her ruined son, conversation with Shah Rukh in a phone.
Radhika Apte as Lajjo has also done an excellent job. She acted in few intimate scenes very comfortable and delivered a superb performance. Surveen Chawla as Bijli is a stunner. Her role was superb. The remaining artists Riddhi Sen, Leher Khan, Chandan Anand and Sumeet Vyas has given wonderful performances in their roles.
The cinematography handled by Russell Carpenter, and he did an excellent job. It looks fresh and rich. Hitesh Sonik music was just amazing, and Ajay Devgan produced the film under his home banner. Finally Parched is a good women oriented drama representing the issues of women in few areas of Northern India.
