California, June 24: James Horner, the Oscar-winning film Titanic composer has died aged 61 in a horrific plane crash in central California.

As per official reports Horner was piloting a single-engine S312 Tucano turboprop plane and was crashed on Monday near Santa Barbara. The identity of pilot was initially not known, later Horner’s death is confirmed by his assistant Sylvia Patrycja.

In her Facebook page she posted that “We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent, he died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support”.

Horner is an experienced pilot, he owned several planes and crashed plane was one of his several planes. Mike Lindbery, a spokesman of the Ventura County fire service declared that plane was crashed in Los Padres national forest at around 9:30 am on Monday.

Horner was born at Los Angeles in 1953 year, he completed his degree in music at the University of Southern California, before his graduation in music he trained at the Royal College of Music in London.

Horner won two Oscar awards for his work on James Cameron’s Titanic movie in 1997. He worked with director James Cameron’s for three movies, with Star Trek for two movies. He also the film composer of movies Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, Avatar and Apollo 13 and many others.
