Hyderabad, June 30: Appointing a new vice-chancellor to the University of Hyderabad is on process, Union ministry of human resource developed has selected the three members to finalise permanent VC to UoH.
The search committee has submitted three names to Union ministry of human resource developed (MHRD) recently to select the next head of the university. Committed submitted three member’s names A Apparao and A Raghavendra from the Life Sciences department at UoH and a senior member from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
A total of 190 applications were received for this position, out of which 21 applicants are received by the ministry, finally three applicants were selected. The search committee required to select five names by MHRD from which the Vice Chancellor would be nominated by president. But MHRD selected only three names, for other two slots DN Reddy, ex-VC of JNTU, and CH Mohan Rao, director of Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology are in race.
Currently, RP Sharma, professor in the plant sciences department is in the charge and the new and permanent VC for the university is expected to be appointed by the second week of July. Meanwhile, the university students have a list worries over the facilities on campus from poor security to lack of proper and sufficient accommodations. It is not just due to the lack of permanent VC, but also the lack of resources and negligence.
