Thiruvananthapuram, July 14: Indian space agency launches first SAARC satellite by December, 2016 for providing communication, meteorological services to SAARC member-countries and is considered as “gift” to neighbors.

On Monday, ISRO Chairman, AS Kiran Kumar said that Indian Space Agency, Indian Space Research Organisation is going to launch its first SAARC satellite for communication and meteorological services to offer for the neighbour countries. From SAARC nations, 5 members came to a meeting that is held on June 22. Each and every country that is participating has representatives at the meeting that has been conducted.

In the meeting, even members from Pakistan also participated. At Akkulam, the place nearby Thiruvananthapuram, AS Kiran Kumar said, “By December next year, we are expecting to launch this (Saarc) satellite”.  He also added that they are working on Spectrum finalization. Whole Scientists of ISRO are on this work to launch the satellite by end of 2016.

The officials noted that this is the first satellite they are going to launch for SAARC and is to provide communication, meteorological services for member-countries. Last year only, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi planned to develop a satellite as a gift to neighbours.

And finally scientists have developed a satellite to provide full range of applications, services to all the neighbours of India. After getting concurrence of the countries on the slot and frequency spectrum, the Spectrum configuration will be finalized.
