Maharashtra: Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is declared as State’s Tiger Ambassador at the meeting of Tiger Protection Foundation held in Nagpur.

Maharashtra State is putting its maximum efforts for Tiger conservation. Accordingly, State Finance Minister and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar in a meeting for Tiger Protection Foundation at Nagpur requested Big B as the State’s Tiger ambassador. The meeting was held in July and wrote this same thing to Amitabh on World’s Tigers Day, July 29.

Sources say that from onwards, State’s Tiger (Big Cats) are going to have a famous Bollywood icon as ambassador. In regards to the letter written by Sudhir Mungantiwar, Big B accepted the invitation and said that he would support Tiger conservation and render his extreme services in promoting this issue.

Amitabh wrote, “This letter may kindly be treated as my consent to represent the Maharashtra as its tiger ambassador” on Monday, August 10 to FM. Officials said that public involvement is required and Big B’s name, fame will be used in society for conservation of Big Cats.

Including all the details for Tigers in Maharashtra, it is said that there are completely 6 tiger projects in which 1 Western Maharashtra and 5 are at Vidarbha. The Western Maharashtra project is also called as Sahyadri Tiger Project. With a recent survey, it is said that from 2010 to 2014, tigers count has been increased from 1,706 to 2,226 in the country.

And alone in Maharashtra, there are about 190 tigers. In order to keep this counts grow high, this conservation has been started and legend is requested to be Tiger Ambassador.
