New Delhi: Govt of India is likely to announce One rank One Pension scheme (OROP) today, NDA government want to settle the issue before the Assembly polls in Bihar.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar began an indefinite relay strike along with nearly 100 ex-army veterans by demanding the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP). Huge number of ex-army men participated in this strike under the banner of All Goa Ex-Service Men Welfare Association (AGEWA) and they decided to continue the strike till their demands are met.

Several ex-servicemen are on indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. It seems like One Rank One Pension scheme is likely to be approved by the Narendra Modi government today. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will hold the press meet today at 3:00 pm and is expecting to announce the government decision to roll out OROP scheme.

RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabele has also  informed to the Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah to worked the scheme soon before the Assembly polls in Bihar. As per sources, ex-servicemen who have been protesting Jantar Mantar at New Dlehi are expecting to accept the government proposal and end their protest after NDA government announcement on OROP scheme.

According to sources, government OROP scheme will be implemented for July 1, 2014. As per information after implementing the OROP the average pension of Major General will increase from Rs 65,000 to Rs 80,000 and the pension of retired Jawan with 20 years of service will increase from Rs 12,800 to Rs 14,700.
