Chennai: Out of 103 Tamil movie releases in Kollywood this year, only 9 movies have tasted success and profits from Box Office collections and remaining performed averagely.

Tamil movies which have tasted success at Box-Office where a failure at Critics reviews and those who have succeeded in winning the hearts of critics has failed to strike gold at the Box office are reported in daily news. Now TFPC has announced officially that only 9 movies so far has tasted profits.

The official statement reads as, “Tamil Cinema had overall of 103 releases till month of August. Out of these 103 movies, Big budget movies are 23, Medium and Small budget movies are 80. Producers have spend a sum of Rs.750 Crores for all these 103 movies.

90% of the Producers who have invested the money have just incurred losses. Out of these 103 movies, only 20 big budget movies and 4 small budget movies satellite rights were sold and rest of the movies are yet to get some sunshine. Tamil cinema is facing a dry period for past 10 months.

To be even more accurate, only 9 movies have yielded profits for the producers and the rest of the movies have just been losses. Last year it was 15 and this year it was 9 and the numbers are declining.” This statement from TFPC has shocked everyone in Kollywood fraternity.
