Chennai: Ajith starter Vedhalam record breaking collection for day one creates history in Kollywood. More than any movie in Tamil cinema history, it becomes the heights grosser for day 1.

Vedalam finally got released this Tuesday as a Diwali treat. The movie had high expectations as Ajith’s previous three outings were successful and this movie never even had any trailer release. Fans were looking to catch the movie right on day one itself.

In this case, a famous theatre in Nellai, Ram Muthuram Cinemas has confessed that the theatre has never experienced such a massive rush. They made a statement that only Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s films had such rush and the last time it happened for ‘Kaththi’.

Theatres keep themselves updated in social media and owner Rokesh is also active on Twitter. After a long time they released an Ajith movie. Now it has earned success. Vedhalam has reportedly emerged as the highest grosser for them. The movie has collected Rs 14 crore.

Earlier Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ collected 13.5 crore. Now ‘Vedhalam’ has set a new benchmark for them. Interestingly the theatre owners decided to have midnight shows by 2 AM due to the increasing demand in tickets.
