The 21st Kolkata International Film Festival will be organized from November 14th to 21st 2015. In this festival, 149 films will be screened by 137 directors from 61 countries. Especially this is organizing to bring good world movies for Kolkata and that should be accessible to the common man.
Approximately 12 venues have been selected for showcasing of these films and 23 Indian films will be showcased. KIFF became a competitive festival last year and this year is the second time it will going to screen.
In this festival, best movie, director and women directed film will get Royal Bengal Trophy award. The largest cash award is 51 lakh at present in any international film festival for selected best movie.
The West Bengal film centre Nandan created by the state government in 1985 for city’s own film festival. This clamoured has been inaugurated by Satyajit Ray who is a great filmmaker. This festival started first as a quiet note and now it is in another association.
Nearly 10, 000 audiences attended the inauguration of the first film festival at Netaji Indoor Stadium. As per news, Amitabh Bachchan will be inaugurated this event this year. The officials said that this festival credit goes to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
In this festival, new dialect movies such as Nepali, Tulu, Konkani, Rava and Ladakhi will be introduced and sport related films like Kony, Raging Bull, Chariots of Fire, Escape to Victory and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag will also be showed.
However, the local film industry has been appreciating by many people because of many settings for several highly praised Bollywood films and bringing other important films.
