Using Tobacco gives not only cancer but also pollutes the environment, spreading diseases and possibly infected food, says oncologist body in Kolkata. Doctor’s organization with the National Green Tribunal said that Cigarette, bidi butts, chewing tobacco spit littered on streets, these should be divided as a toxic waste.

The health problems had come heavily with the tobacco litter in Kolkata since the city has a lot of smokers and then other metros as per the Bengal Oncology Foundation. Mumbai-based NGO doctors responded to an application filed, the Union Ministries of Environment and health as well as Central Pollution Control Board has been directed by NGT for filing their reaction on a cigarette, bidi butts and chewing tobacco caused hurt to the environment.

In Bengal has 10.3% very danger cause of tobacco by adult population smoke cigarettes and 15.7% bids and 21.9% chewed tobacco. Subir Ganguly, vice-president Bengal said that cigarette butts consist of many metals and high risk and gives health problems so that must be taken an action against it.

He also noted that with the use of it, a lot of diseases will be ruled out. “In Kolkata, it is common for people even children also to smoke cigarette or bidi and it picked up from the road, apart from that it transmit the diseases.

Actually, in hospitals, government offices and educational institutes these smoking, as well as all kinds of tobacco products, are prohibited but the rules as usual ignored in Kolkata. Most of the hospital and corridors in the city are huge dirty with tobacco splits and other tobacco products. Banning publicly is the way to control this tobacco litter, said Ganguly.
