New Delhi: Today is the World’s AIDS day, current year it is being celebrated under the theme, “Take care of the complete you: ask for HIV test too”.
The word ‘AIDS’ is known to everyone and very dangerous disease, large numbers of people have been suffering from this since a long time across the world. Few years ago, particularly one day has been allotted for AIDS i.e. World AIDS day “December 1st “.
So, December 1st is the AIDS day to the entire world and current year it is being celebrated under the theme, “Take care of the complete you: ask for HIV test too”. The Union Government is looking to focus on a wellness as well as preventative drive. The mass media and community mobilization will support this drive.
Assam and Tripura are in a top position among all the North Eastern states in annual increasing in HIV cases as per Assam States Aid Control Society. ASACS Project Director Dhiraj Choudhury told that Assam has 0.04% cases in 2007 and increased 0.07 percent in 2011 cases registered. The cases have been increased from 1,219 to 2,408 at that time in the same period.
The numbers of cases have increased from 567 in 2007 to 951 in 2011 in Tripura. In Assam, an adult HIV cases incidence low i.e. 0.07% but Manipur has the highest position in an adult HIV prevalence in the country at 1.22% in 2011.
As per recent statistics stated that Manipur, Nagaland, and Mizoram were the high occurrence states in HIV, but new infections are increasing in few low incidence states such as Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, Choudhury added.
