Recently seeded world’s no 1; Saina Nehwal beat Ratchanok Intanon on last Sunday. The event entitled “Maiden India Open Super Series” was held on Siri Sports Complex, Chennai last Sunday. Saina clinched the title by defeating former World no 1 Intanon of Thailand in straight sets – 21-16 and 21-14.
London Olympic bronze medalist and after recent victory at the China Open, Saina continues her playing standards. This title was a simple win against 3rd seed Intanon with some excellent movement from the very beginning till the end of the match.
Coming to the match details, Saina was not at all confused throughout the event and not even tested much by her opponent. This battle between these two kept the crowd engaged completely from the first point to the last at the Siri Sports Complex.
During the match, Intanon was able to reduce the gap to 18-14 but once again hit out twice. In first chance Saina got the match point followed by the Maiden India Open Super Series title in the second.
The most noticeable points with Saina is her excellent movements and step works. She was also able to catch her oponent on the wrong foot during rallies in a manner that was simply outstanding. It’s definitely her powerful and accurate smashes that brought the second international title for Saina in this running season.
Earlier in the Maiden India Open Super Series tournament, Ratchanok Intanon defeated Carolina Marin of Spain in the semifinal match which was lasted for about an hour with strong determination from both the players.
