The Indian Railways Free Wi-Fi services will be launched by the Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu soon. The services are built on the railways internet department Railtel. The fibers which were already laid for their services will be supporting the Wi-Fi services too.

Further, the services will be extended to 100 more stations across India within a short span of time. These stations would be the busiest ones. By the end of the year 2016, this goal would be achieved. After this 400 more stations will be readied for the expansion of the free services.

Google India Access Project head, Gulzar Azad has termed this as a benchmark for the internet users in India. He also stated that this is the need of the hour for every individual. The Railtel chairman, RK Bahuguna stated that this project is to make the Wi-Fi services sustainable in the long term.

Whatever the reason may be, the railway passengers might be thrilled to avail the services of Indian Railways offered free of cost at present. The high-speed internet will serve nearly 1.5 million in the proposed 100 stations by the end of 2016 year.
