Vivek Agnihotri directing political drama Buddha in a Traffic Jam at the Jadavpur University campus created tensions.

Buddha in a Traffic Jam film shooting at Triguna Sen auditorium in Jadavpur University raised the tensions between two groups of students. The incident took place when a fight broke out between the organisers and a section of students from the Federation of Arts Students (FAS) and Arts Faculty Students’ Union (AFSU) who protested against the filmmaker with black flags.

Initially, the permission was granted to “Think India” by the University officials but later it was cancelled in the name of the code of conduct due to ongoing assembly elections in the state. the open ground inside the campus on Friday.

Protestors blocked Vivek Agnihotri’s vehicle raising slogans against him and opposed to the entry of ABVP activists accompanying him. However, a large group of BJP and ABVP workers led by Roopa Ganguly assembled at the university gate to release their supporters held as hostages by the University students inside. Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das and the police intervened to get them released.

Later, agitating students sat on a dharna outside Jadavpur police station against the police action and demanded immediate arrest of the responsible persons. The university administration lodged an FIR in this matter.
