Manchu Mohan Babu has made a controversial statement regarding his film Assembly Rowdy didn’t get award due to NTR govt was not on the rule.
Actor and Politician Manchu Mohan Babu is a very famous personality in the Telugu states. Initially, he got huge popularity with movies and he started educational institutions and some other business.
According to the reports, speaking to the media persons, Manchu said: “The title ‘Assembly Rowdy’ was chosen as we felt it is so apt for the story. Because of the same reason, we faced many hurdles during the making and post the release. After a demand to ban the movie surfaced, Speaker Dharma Rao attended the private screening and felt there is no need for any such action.
Also saying that late NT Rama Rao had backed the film before its release, the Padma Sri actor said that since it was not an NTR government, the film didn’t receive a State award. “In any case, cinema is about business. When we make a film, we want money and fame. Who would want an award?” the actor said.
B Gopal’s 1991 film Assembly Rowdy completes 25 years today and Written by P Vasu (the film was a remake of the 1990 Tamil film Velai Kidaichuduchu), Paruchuri Brothers’ screenplay was a major highlight. Late Divya Bharti’s fans only grew in number after this film.
