Airtel, the Telecom leader in India has doubled the Internet data packages for the prepaid customers with a mere increase in the cost.
The Airtel Prepaid users have a good news from the company. Especially, the data users can have a smile over the announcement of the offer. The Data has been doubled with a little hike in the price for the customers.
For illustration the present data pack price of Rs. 259/- provides 1GB of data with a validity period of 28 days. Now the same has been enhanced with a cost of Rs.296/- which provides 2 GB data and 28 days validity. But, the usage of data has been bifurcated – 1 GB should be used during the daytime and the remaining 1 GB during the night time. This offer implies a saving of 30% when compared to the existing pack with the same benefits. This offer is confined only to its pre-paid customers only.
Airtel aims to increase its existing users as well as usage of high margin internet services. The announcement of new plans might put pressure on the realisation rates for 3G/4G data which are already declining. Of course, the data usage will be increased.
According to the Bharti Airtel’s report of earnings, the present realisation rate for every megabyte of data declined to Rs. 22.87 paise/MB. In the previous quarter, the rate was Rs. 23.77paise/MB. Actually, the realisation rate was Rs. 26.82paise/MB in the last earlier. However, its usage per subscriber has increased by 859 MB/month from 843 MB/month in the last quarter and 656 MB/month last year.
