Delhi AAP Govt Moves High Court Against ACB Chief Appointment

Delhi, June 27: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government filed an application at Delhi High Court against Commissioner of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena, Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief.

The Aam Aadmi Party government has field an interim application at Delhi high court against the appointment of Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena as Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief.

Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung had appointed Meena as the ACB chief on 8th June, after the ACB arrested a Meena for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. But the AAP government has strongly opposed his appointment. The Aam Aadmi party government has decided to move the high court, seeking to detain ACB joint commissioner of police M K Meena.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that, Meena was currently under the scanner for an alleged hawala racket. And the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sent a secret note to the Union home minister and mentioned serious allegations against him.

As per details, Meena is an accused for embezelling Rs.20 lakh in a curtain purchase scam during his tenure as the principal of the Police Training College in Delhi.

Then all the top lawyers were roped in to defend this officer. But the High Court permitted the ACB to take actions. The case is now at Supreme Court but there is no stay on the High Court order. The Aam Aadmi party is expected to say that Meena should not be permitted to function till the time the main petition is decided.
