Chennai, May 29: A student association, Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is banned by management team of organization for criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies.
Immediately the IIT dean, Siva Kumar M Srinivasan, sent an email to the coordinators of APSC and notifying that the students has been de-recognized.
A member of APSC association said that “We have not misused any privileges given by the institute, we engaged in spreading Ambedkar and Periyar thoughts, the dean has de-recognized our association without giving any an inquiry and opportunity to present ourselves”.
The group was created in April 2014 by a group of politically-inclined students from the IIT Madras to encourage the thoughts and words of BR Ambedkar and Periyar.
However, Dean Siva Kumar M Srinivas has banned the APSC association activities in institute as per the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) complaint.
