New Delhi, June 16: Government has launched the augmented reality app called Sakaar to highlight the attainments of the department of space is association with ISRO.

The union Minister of State, Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jitendra Singh has unveiled Augmented Reality (AR) app named as ‘Sakaar’ on 15th June, 2015 at a press conference in New Delhi. The application has been developed by the Development and Educational Communication Unit (DECU) of ISRO. This app will be applicable only for Android users and it is used to highlight the achievements of the Department of Space.

The Augmented Reality application shows the live direct view 3D models, animation and Videos of a physical, real-world environment. This AR application needs three major elements i.e. Android device with back camera, AR application and AR Markers. Sakaar app will generated the multimedia content with the support of multimedia and editing facilities of DECU-ISRO.

By using this app users can watch 3D models of various live projects which are trending at ISRO such as satellite launches, MARS missions etc. The government is planning to distribute app in schools, so that students at schools who may be the future scientist of India will get up to date information about ISRO projects.

Users can download Sakaar app from the webpage http://www.sac.gov.in/SACSITE/sakaar/index.html. And the user can scan the QR code using a QR code reader on the device to downloading this app
