Goa: Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has requested the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) for 300 B.Ed admissions in Goa as like last year and it is approved for seats allotment.
Directorate of Higher Education, Goa has recently conducted the counselling process for candidates who need an admission in B.Ed courses across three colleges of Goa. As per information total 1,200 applicants was attended the counselling process, out of which only 200 candidates who listed in top position at merit list secured with a seat.
Earlier there was a chance to more 100 students to get the admission at one among three B.Ed colleges including Nirmala Institute of Education, GVM College of Education and PES College of Education. According to sources, earlier each institute had 100 seats totalling 300, but the end of last academic year Nirmala and GVM colleges requested the NCTE to limit the seats to 50 in each institute.
Initially NCTE has approved the request of both colleges and limited the seat to 50 for each college for the academic year 2015-16. As a result more 100 students have lost the chance to get an admission in B.Ed.
For the current academic year, total 1200 students applied for admission in B.Ed course due to the reduction of 100 seats only 200 students who are in the top position at merit list secured with seat. Due to this mess, DHE has immediately approached the NCTE to limit the seats again to 100 at Nirmala and GVM like previous years, to help the students.
Earlier the DHE used to conduct the written examination and interview rounds to allot the seat for suitable candidates, but from the last couple of years, DHE allocating the seat to students based on their score at academic examination
