New Delhi, June 3: BSNL free national roaming to start from coming 15th June 2015. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad reported in a press meet regarding implementing free incoming call in BSLN roaming.

BSNL, state-owned telecom service will offer free incoming calls on national roaming from this month, June 15 onwards. It subscribers will get all benefits as per the sheet delivered, Ravi Shankar Prasad (Telecom Minister) said in the press meet. Even though this decision is going to compete with private telecom operators, government decided to offer this service to its subscribers.

Prasad at the press meet of Modi government’s one year said that this offer from BSNL is already on the recovery path and will be implemented from June 15. As per reports, there are 7.72 crore mobile subscribers for BSNL at the end of month March. Mobile Number Portability (MNP) will be on service after the announcement.

BSNL CMD, Anupam Shrivastava uttered, “Although there could be slight reduction in revenue on account of free incoming calls during roaming, we expect to gain first mover advantage and anticipate offsetting this amount by arresting churnout/ porting out and acquiring new customers”.

In 2004, there was about Rs. 10,000 crore of profit made from BSNL but finally stood at loss of Rs. 7,500 crore by 2014. BSNL is available for services all over the country apart from Delhi and Mumbai in whoch MTNL is providing services here. MTNL was also in profit zone till 2008 but now running in loses.

In 2014, 2.1% of increment is found in the profits and 47 lakhs subscribers are added. Due to the 15,000 new base tower stations that were built under phase VII, we had reduced call drops and eased congestion this year.
