Call 104 for Suicide Counselling Cell Launched by TS Government

Hyderabad: Telangana government has started a Suicide Prevention Counselling Cell at 104 helpline Seva Kendrm to help the people those who struck in depressed situations that drive them to attempt suicide.

September 10 was considered as the World Suicide Prevention Day, on the occasion the state government has started a suicide prevention cell at 104 Seva Kendram at Koti. The counselling center was launched by Health Minister Dr. C Laxma Reddy.

As of now the 104 Seva Kendram provides services to non-emergency health and medical advice and counselling services to needy callers. It has also received 980 calls from the people with thoughts of suicide since 2012. People are of the age from 15 to 25 years are contacted the seva kendram for advice to avoid suicide.

To reach out people and to save precious life’s of youngsters of Telangana, the state government has started a suicide prevention counselling center at 104 Seva Kendram at Hyderabad with 24×7 counselling services which are operated by highly qualified, trained and experienced counsellors.

As of now the counselling center has 12-member dedicated team to counselling the callers and soon it will also have two psychiatrists to help the callers medically.

Interestingly, after launching the counselling center it received a call from a youngster who has 25 years. The youngster from Nalgonda called up counselling center and said that he wanted to commit suicide because of love failure. Then the counsellor tried to calm him and connected the call to Health minister Laxma Reddy. The minister tried to convince the youngster and asked him to meet him at the Secretariat.
