Mumbai: This is how Central Board of Film Certification, CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani defends himself after his approach in certifying James Bond’s latest release Spectre.
Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Pahlaj Nihalani was recently criticized and mocked in social media for cutting the kissing scenes in James Bond’s latest release ‘Spectre’. ‘Spectre’ was the 24th Bond flick and everyone criticized him for chopping the kissing scenes.
But the chairman has hit back by saying he did what he has to do. He also said he has done everything as per rules. Lots of celebrities have criticized Nihalani for his approach in certifying movies.
Responding to critics, Pahlaj said, “Just point out the flaws sensibly. Show me one point which I have done which is not within rules. Then I myself will step down. The cuts were made in the past, but there was no controversy then. But now due to these social media everyone speaks on various things.
We gave U/A certificate to SPECTRE as per the rules. We never broke the continuity with these cuts. Everything is done according to the current rules and we are going by the riles. Ever since I became the chief of censor board, 2173 movies were cleared and 2125 movies were cleared in the first step itself.”
