The Class X exams affiliating to CBSE are to be re-introduced from 2018 after concerns raised about the student’s academic standards. The (Central Board of Secondary Education) CBSE Class X exams were scrapped in the year 2010 to reduce the pressure on the students head.

The pattern of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is introduced in the Academic system six years ago as to provide stress-less methods of tests to put off the academic pressure on the students.

And to now, it is found that the CCE Tests method for the academics was minimizing the CBSE standards in the students.

The decision on re-introducing the CBSE Class X exams Board Exams will take on Oct 25th by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar who heads the CABE (Central Advisory Board of Education).

A Senior HRD Ministry Official said that   “There have been representations from academicians as well as organizations of parents saying that scrapping the exam and with the no-detention policy being in place, the academic standards are being affected,”

He added “Also, it is being observed that students are unable to take the pressure of appearing directly for Class XII boards which are an important deciding factor for the career they choose. Quality education to all is a prerequisite for building a better country. The Centre is moving towards a big change in its education policy to achieve the objective of making quality education available to all,”

Reports say that there will be discussions on imposing amendments into No-Detention Policy. As under RTE Act, the no-detention policy prescribes that the student will automatically be promoted to the next class until Class X, in the discussions to happen, it is expected that the policy amendments will reduce to Class V.

As the academic standards are being damaged by CCE method tests for the students, it is entirely necessary to bring back the old pattern of CBSE Board Exams and the change in the ‘no-detention’ is advisable.
