Karnataka: Kannada viewers are disadvantaged of watching Hindi movies, realty shows and TV serials because of CCI ban on dubbing for Kannada Film Chambers of Commerce.
Imagine Hindi Superstars Salman and Shah Rukh Khan speaking Kannada dialogues in their movies which is being screened in Karnataka. Well, here it is can be realty with Competition Commission of India (CCI) lifting a four decade old ban on dubbing of other language movies into Kannada.
Do you know? Karnataka and West Bengal are the only states in the country where other language movies will not be dubbed into Kannada and Bengali respectively. Few audience of Karnataka had loomed the CCI challenging that KFCC had left them their right of watching entertainment content on both big and small screens of their mother tongue.
For Example, recently Telugu Movie Bahubali was dubbed into Tamil and Malayalam and released in vast number of theaters in Tamil Nadu and Kerala but in Karnataka, only the Hindi and Telugu versions were released.
The KFCC along with Karnataka Television Association and Karnataka Film Producers Association (KFPA) announced that dubbed movies would harm the local culture and hit Kannada movies and also problem with screens for special language films.
As per latest news Distribution Rights of Baahubali was sold out for record price of 18 crores in Karnataka. Leading Karnataka producer Sa Ra Govindu, said, “We have to defend our market otherwise there will be no screen left for Kannada movies. We kept a ban on other films to protect Kannada films. If Hindi and Telugu films dubbed into Kannada, definitely it will be a death blow for us.
