Moving a step forward to control crime in trains, the union home ministry and railways ministry come together to install CCTV Cameras in Indian Trains. More to the point, discussion is undergoing for creating Railway Police Women and to implement online First Information Report (FIR) for all trains.

According to the official report, this active consideration towards execution of CCTV camera and online FIR system in Indian trains is to minimize the crime rate and to make passengers’ journey uncomplicated.

As an intensive drive to put-off crime on railways the security directorate of ministry of railways recently organized a conference of state police DGPs. Current railway minister Suresh Prabhu gave emphasis on adopting a flawless policy to monitor and check increasing criminal activities in trains.

Addressing to the conference, Suresh Prabhu described the need of creating a database of wanted criminals. They’re also considering adopting NTSS (National Transport Security Strategy) so that different transport systems would take into account in chorus.

Addressing the top police officials from 25 different states, Prabhu said, “This will help in tracking criminals expeditiously and arrest them for trial. The ministry of railways is contemplating to have a ‘Mahila Vahini’ and proposal for it has already been sent to finance ministry and he sought help of Home Ministry for this proposal.”

Online FIR system in Indian trains was cited by union home minister Rajnath Singh later in the conference. By confessing Indian railway as a spongy target for criminals he said, “The ministry is planning to utilize ex-army personnel in various security related mechanisms, including railway security.”
