Centre to invest Rs 3030 Crore in AP for Higher Education

Central Union Human Resource Development Minister, Smriti Irani on Thursday said that, the central government is going to spend Rs. 30,30 crores to develop higher education in newly formed Andhra Pradesh state.

The minister was attended the meeting today at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari District and placing foundation stone of national institute of technology (NIT) in T.P. Gudem.  Center allotted 300 crores or establishing the institute to be temporarily accommodated in Vasavi Engineering College grounds.

As per latest reports, NIT will begin with 480 seats from last week of August. The function was held today morning with important politicians such as Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y S Chowdary, state ministers, MPs and MLAs attended the function.

She was recently inaugurated IIT in Tirupati and spent RS 700 crore for that project. Already classes have begun in IIT Tirupati. She said that, “IISER will also come to Tirupati and center would be invested Rs 870 crore for this. Central Government is trying to invest money for establishing few more institutions in AP”. She also said that central government invests Rs.680 crore for Indian Institute of management (IIM) Visakhapatnam and classes will be commenced from next month.

Smriti Irani also suggested to students of NIT Tadepalligudem to help impart technology with agriculture and find new ways of benefiting farmers.
