China Restores Qianshou Guanyin, A 800 Year Old Buddha Statue

Chongqing, June 15: After 7 years of work, Chinese experts found 800 year old Qianshou Guanyin, Buddha statue in Dazu County, southwestern Chongqing Municipality.

People of China, Chongqing will see a Buddha statue named Qianshou Guanyin from now onwards. With a state of devotion, everyone in the place of China prays Buddha for excellence in career and peace of mind. After working vigorously, experts in China found a statue that has 1,000 hands is 7.7 meters high and 12.5 meters wide and it is named as Qianshou Guanyin. This is completely a new look of Buddha as of now.

Visitors and people in that place are eager to see this statue. Actually, the restoration program began in 2008 and cost about 60 million yuan ($9.8 million) which took place in the municipality of Chongqing. 830 hands and 227 instruments were restores and the workers involved at the place of work were using one million gold foils. The foils are helpful for them to clean the statue cleanly.

The project of finding Qianshou Guanyin is the largest restoration project on statue. And the statue is said to glow for minimum of 50 years. Zhan Changfa, a researcher of the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage is in charge of this current project and revealed all this info to the press and people of that place.

The statue was carved during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 to 1279). And it listed in World Heritage sites which are most popular in 1999 by UNESCO. This statue is considered to be a masterpiece of rock carvings in Dazu. The carvings date back as early as the Tang Dynasty (618-907) began.

Tong Mingkang, deputy head of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage said that the timely damage of statue will be taken care and the project also includes protecting it for the next 800 years.
