Cine Galaxy Bags Tamil Movies US Theatrical Rights

Kollywood’s upcoming movies – Kabali, Theri and 24 – U.S theatrical rights have been purchased by the Cine Galaxy company.

The company has shelled out unprecedented amounts for these three Rajinikanth, Vijay, Suriya starrer Tamil movies and obtained the U.S  theatrical rights. Looking into the details the Tamil Box Office reports have stated that the following:

Rajinikanth’s  Kabali – Rs. 8.5 crores

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s  Theri – Rs. 3.0 Crores

Suriya’s 24 – Rs. 2.1 crores

Cine Galaxy has paid the highest for a Tamil movie till date is Kabali. It is a  gangster movie, written and directed by Pa Ranjith. Kalaipuli S Dhanu is the producer, which has Radhika Apte in the female lead role. Rajinikanth plays an ageing don in the movie. The multilingual film is expected to be released for the theatres either in the last week of May or the first week of June.

Cine Galaxy has paid Theri, a record price for a non-Rajinikanth film till date. It is an action thriller in which Vijay will be seen as a cop. features Samantha and Amy Jackson are in the lead female roles. The movie is  directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu. The movie will be released on April 14, which is the occasion of the Tamil New Year.

Cine Galaxy has acquired rights of 24 movie for both Tamil and Telugu versions. This movie is a science fiction, directed by Vikram Kumar. Samantha and Nithya Menen play the lead female characters while Suriya will be seen in multiple roles in the movie. It is expected to be released in the first week of May.

The company hopes that the three movies will be the biggest hits in the industry. It has already started dominating the Telugu market by distributing some of the big Tollywood movies in recent years, including Manam, Nannaku Prematho, and Bhale Bhale Magadivoy are in their list.
