Defense minister Manohar Parrikar has announced that, they had decided to change the name of prestigious missile complex in Hyderabad as “Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex”.

Defense minister Manohar Parrikar has announced that, they had decided to change the name of prestigious missile complex in Hyderabad as “Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex”. The event will take place at Research Centre Imarat (RCI) on Thursday i.e. on September 14 on the occasion of 84th birth anniversary of Dr Kalam, the “Missile Man”.

As we know, Dr. Kalam had joined DRDO in 1982 and he gave services for nearly two decades. The missile complex includes System Laboratory (ASL), Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) and Research Centre Imarat (RCI) which is considered to be the brain child of Kalam.

As a founder and director, Kalam perceived and navigated RCI as a generator of critical missile technologies. Shri Parrikar will also be initiating two advanced R&D facilities of RCI – Outdoor RCS Test Facility, “ORANGE”, at Dundigal and Kautilya Advanced Research Centre at RCI, Hyderabad.

Dr G. Sateesh Reddy, SA to RM and Director RCI along with other notable scientists, lab directors, project directors, senior officials and staff of DRDO will attend during the event.
