IIT Roorkee has given the re-admission for candidates who had been expelled last month, Only 65 students out of 72 were taken back after the Senate meeting and others denied it.

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee has decided to taken back, 72 students who had been expelled last month based on some conditions, out of which only 62 students were taken and remaining were denied readmission.

According to the sources, 72 students of the first year at IIT Roorkee have been expelled on 12th June for scoring less than five CGPA in the both semesters of B.Tech. Then the students have approached the high court for relief but the court has rejected it and said that they are not eligible for re-admission. Students again filed a mercy plea to the court for re-admission then the court granted for relief.

As per the court order the management team of IIT Roorkee has conducted the senate meeting on 3rd August and decided taken back students based on some conditions. Out of 72 students only 65 students have been taken back others were denied re-admission.

About this, National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights and National Dalit Movement for Justice has released a report that, the management has denied the re-admission for seven students. They founded that out of seven six students were denied re-admission belong to reserved categories.

As per sources the fact-finding team has called the IIT Roorkee decision to deny re-admission of seven students as “an act if extreme malevolence”
