June 2: Flipkart designed image search feature to its Smartphone App for fashion category, launched it on Wednesday to provide a real-world shopping experience to their users.
The competition in the Indian e-commerce space continuously increasing and on Wednesday India’s most visited e-commerce website Flipkart has announced its new feature called image search, that may give it an advantage over its competitors. With this image search feature users can find visually similar products on Flipkart.
Flipkart has launched this new feature on Wednesday on its mobile app for its fashion category. With this image search feature, now users can find same colour, pattern and style fashion products by using an image or a photo on their phones.
The e-commerce company said that “the added feature is especially for fashion products category on Flipkart, with and aim to make their users shopping experience simple. This new feature will allow the use of any of image to search for similar products. In addition, with this feature user can browse a range of similar products by tapping directly on the products they like on Flipkart”.
Flipkart’s Chief Product officer Punit Soni said that “Discovering a fashion product online varies from users to users and it is more difficult as compared to other categories”.
This new image search feature delivers a way to users to find similar products by reducing search time. This feature is currently in beta stage of development, will soon available for users with an upgrade app. More the 75% users using Flipkart mobile app for shopping, to make users shopping experience more simple, company will add more advanced features in the coming months.
