Telangana, July 14: Telangana government has decided to take a help from police and defence personnel to clean up Hyderabad city due to GHMC municipal employees strike.
Huge number of contract employees and Grater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation employees called for strike since one week for their major demands including salary. Due this effect the greater Hyderabad has turned as garbage bin. Then the Telangana state government has announced a serious action on GHMC municipal employees strike on Monday and warned of strict action against contract workers if they didn’t report for duty immediately.
Municipal employees across the state have called for strike for the demands of regularization of services, payment of minimum wages and other welfare measures. The GHMC employees are also blocked the other alternative services to clean up city, due this strike effect over 15,000-20,000 metric tonnes of garbage loaded mainly at housing areas, colonies, lane and by lanes in twin cities. The municipal workers are decided to continue their strike till their demands accepted.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting with officials to discuss about the GHMC strike and said that the state government was absolutely inclined to address the employee’s demands and advised them to start their work immediately otherwise alternative arrangements will be made with army police and other government department officials.
The state government has decided to take a help from police and defence personnel to clean up the City. However a defence spokesperson said that, they not yet received any orders from senior officials to lend a help to state government, even if such a proposal made by state government the army is ready to respond immediately.
