India: Government asked the local Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block porn websites which contains pornographic material only but not others.
Modi Government has directed the local Internet service providers (ISPs) to ban 857 websites, which has been contained pornographic material. Supreme Court ordered the country’s IT telecommunication department to block adult sites, especially that featuring child pornography.
As per Supreme court orders on Friday India’s department of telecommunication had advised the local Internet service providers (ISPs) to control free and open access to over 857 porn websites. The service providers was started the process if blocking popular porn websites including Poornhub and Brazzers.
As per Supreme Court the ISPs also banned the non-porn websites like CollegeHumor, 9gag.tv abd liveleak and others. Then the top internet companies raised their voice against to it and said that, the industry is not ready to help the government to block porn websites until it reveals the clear announcement around what can be blocked and what cannot.
On Tuesday Indian Government had revised its order that, it is lifting the ban on websites that are not promoting child porn. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has directed the Local Internet service providers to immediately unblock those entire sites which did not contain child pornography. The government officials also said that, the ban is temporary measure till the final orders are announced by the top court
