Hindu Munnani Leader Ramagopalan to Rajinikanth – Don’t Play the Role of Tipu Sultan

Chennai: Hindu Munani leader Rama Gopalan has directed the super star Rajinikanth, not to take up the role of Tipu Sultan, who was against to Tamilian.

Bengaluru-based entrepreneur producer Ashok Khey has recently approached super star Rajinikanth to take up the project of a biopic of the 18th century ruler Tipu Sultan. The actor facing problems even before hear about the outline of a proposed biopic of Tipu Sultan.

As per sources Hinu Munani Leader Ram Gopalan has urged the southern star to not to take up the project. As per Mr Gopalan, ruler Tipu Sultan was ‘anti-tamil, he attacked on Tamils during his rules, so no Tamil actors including super star Rajinikanth should star in the film.

Mr Goplan said that, the film will be an attempt to represent Tipu Sultan as a freedom fighter, but he was an anti-Tamil and he attacked on Chief Minister M.G Ramachandran’s family and forced his family to move to Palakkad from Coimbatore. Such as film on Tipu sultan would be insult to Tamils, hence no Tamil actors including Rajinikanth should act in the film.

Actor and South Indian Film Artistes’ Association president R. Sarathkumar said that “an actor had all the rights to do any role as he wanted, but actor feels that the chosen subject being hurtful to a particular community, he has the choice to decide on whether or not to do the project. He added that “The statement issued by Mr. Ramagopalan is in the form of a request. It should be Mr. Rajinikanth’s prerogative to accept or reject it”.
