The severe competition and the unexpected conditions challenged the growth of sales for the Honda car makers.
The launch of the BR-V in the SUV segment is expected to raise the Honda cars sales but it seems to be not possible in the present scenario of the Indian Automobile market. The company itself termed the conditions as challenging for the shortfall in the sales expectation and target reaching.
The company sales and marketing senior manager have earlier stated that the Honda cars have set a target of 3 lakh units every year. But till now only 1.92 lakh units were sold. As the severe competition exists in the segment, the reach of the target is a bit doubtful. The Diesel ban also had an impact on the sales.
Honda Cars India Senior Vice-President Janeshwar Sen hoped that the company will achieve at least the double digit growth rate in the present fiscal year when compared to its previous year. At present the percentage of growth is 2% when compared to its preceding fiscal year.
The positive aspect of the company is the healthy response to the Honda Amaze vehicle sales. This could make the expectations of the company officials come true. The BR-V is competing with the Hyundai Creta and The Renault Duster. The specifications sound good for the vehicle. The official launch is on May 5th.
Honda BR-V is a six-speed manual transmission mated with 1.5-litre petrol engine. The expected fuel mileage on an average is 21.9 kmpl. For diesel variant, there are other highlights. Overall, the automobiles sales are in the downfall.
