Hyderabad: Police have finally identified the Harley Davidson bike thief, Turlapati Kiran, an IIT Madras-Alumni using his phone call records. He was arrested in Mumbai.
A couple of days ago a man sped away with a Harley Davidson bike worth of 5.7 lakh from a showroom at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. With the help of CCTV camera footage police identified the man as a Turlapati Kirana, an IIT-Madras graduate and was employed with the ONGC off shore site in Mumbai.
The police arrested Kiran at Mumbai using his phone call record. As per information, Kiran spoke with showroom staff in Hindi to divert them and he introduced him as Tahir Ali, a software Engineer. He had chosen a Street 750 model bike worth around Rs.6 lakh for a test drive.
After riding around 500 meters from showroom, he gave the miss to the associated showroom staffer and escaped towards Alwal via Begumpet. As per his phone records, police have identified that, Kiran spoke with one of his friend who is working at the Mumbai Shiyard while coming to the showroom.
With this clue a team of five cops from Banjara Hills reached Mumbai and arrested the accused and seized bike from him, the investigation still going on.
Turlapati Kiran is an Alumni of IIT Madras and employee of prestigious company ONGC, he is from respectable family, his father Turlapati Prakash is a former junior commissioned officer, worked as a Special police officer in Hyderabad.
