Korean Automobile manufacturer Hyundai is planning to launch smallest SUV vehicles on the Chinese roads similar to Hyundai ix25.

The market share in China for the Hyundai ix25 which is called the Hyundai Creta in India has declined from 10.4 percent in 2014 to 8.9 percent in 2015 financial year. This is recorded as a 7-year low sale. The decline is cited mainly due to the trend of small SUVs. The local manufacturers are giving a tough competition in the segment.

In China, Hyundai is associated with Kia. Hyundai and Kia are planning to launch three low-cost SUVs in China from the year 2017. Hyundai ix25 also shares its internals with the Kia KX3 compact SUV. Hyundai china’s decision to manufacture less expensive SUVs may result in the launch of Hyundai Carlino model. This was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 but it is expected only in 2019 or after.

The Hyundai Carlino is a sub-4m SUV concept which was designed for the emerging markets in China. The specifications of this model is expected to be a 1.0-liter T-GDI petrol engine.

Hyundai in the Indonesian market sells the Grand i10X model exclusively. This is also a basically the Indian version of the Grand i10 hatchback segment car. Whereas the cross-over model i20 in Europe and India automobile markets have a good sales track record. These products would have already helped Hyundai understand the customer expectations in the A- and B-Segment SUV market.
