IFFI 2015 – 46 International Film Festival of India Started at Goa

Goa: The International Film Festival of India IFFI 2015 took place in Goa on 20th of November. It got a spectacular start with a grand opening ceremony. The award ceremony was a glitzy affair as it had lots of celebrities.

But the most special part of IFFI 2015 was Music composer Ilayaraja receiving Centenary Award from actor Anil Kapoor. Anil Kapoor was invited as the chief guest for festival this year. Russian filmmaker Nikita Mikhalkov was also honoured with life time achievement award.

Speaking at the IFFI 2015 even Ilayaraja said, “As violence is increasing day by day, Music is the only way to bring calmness. Music has to be made compulsory in all schools and colleges. The violence will diminish.” Anil Kapoor however and as usual set the stage lightened up with his performances. He danced to the 1989 song ‘My Name is Lakhan’ and ‘Welcome’.

He also provided some witty comments against his ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ co star Dev Patel. Actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Aditi Rao Hydari hosted the opening ceremony and they welcomed the VIP guests – Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur introduced the international jury members.
