IIEST Took 49% Outstation Students for First Time in History

Bengal: Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) took about 49% of students from outside the State for Engineering and Medical studies this academic year.

Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) took 49% nearly 351 students from outside the West Bengal State to the current academic session. The news was revealed by the Organization authorities and this is for first time that institute give opportunities to outside students.

This is the first time that IIEST institution has taken students based on AIEEE ranks only. Director of IIEST, Ajay Kumar Roy says, “We are welcoming 351 students from outside the state while remaining 359 candidates will be taken from Bengal only. We have 16 vacancies to be filled from outside Bengal while 8 seats are left or the students from Bengal.

He also said that currently we have 3 percent vacancies. Due to the sudden instructions, the intake has been increased by 150 students. According to plans, IIEST would have admitted 576 students however in the changed scenario; around 711 students had been given admission.

For outstation students courses available in various streams like Architecture, Town and Regional Planning along with Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Electronics and Telecommunications. Among the total students who have been given admissions in IIEST from the AIEEE, Architecture department has the best rank holder at 1071 AIR. “In computer science opening rank is 2071 followed by Electronics and tele communications where the opening rank is 3049. Director reveals that maximum number of students has registered in Civil Engineering Department with total of 133 students.
